Privacy Policy
The short version
- We collect your name, email, and optionally your phone number and target exam — so you can have an account and see your own results.
- We never sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
- We do not see your card or UPI details. Payments go directly to Razorpay.
- You can delete your account and all your data at any time — see Delete account.

2. What we collect
2.1 Information you give us
| Name | To identify your account and show you on leaderboards. |

| Password | Stored only as a one-way bcrypt hash. We cannot read your password. |
2.2 Information created as you use the app
| Test attempts | Your answers, time taken, score and rank — this is the product. |

| Device token | An anonymous OneSignal ID, only if you allow notifications. |
| Technical logs | IP address and error details, kept briefly to diagnose faults and prevent abuse. |
2.3 If you sign in with Google
We receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. Nothing else. We do not get access to your Gmail, contacts, Drive or any other Google service.
2.4 What we do not collect
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, files, call logs, SMS messages, microphone or camera. The app does not request those permissions.
3. Why we use it
- To run your account and let you sign in.
- To deliver the tests you have access to, and to mark them.
- To calculate ranks and leaderboards.
- To take payment and give you access to what you paid for.
- To send notifications you have agreed to — new tests, results, expiring access.
- To answer your support requests.
- To find and fix faults, and to prevent cheating and abuse.
We process this data because it is necessary to provide the service you asked for, and — for notifications — because you consented. You may withdraw consent at any time.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
We share only what is necessary with these processors:

We may also disclose information if required by Indian law, a court order, or a lawful request from a government authority.
5. What other students can see
Leaderboards show your name and score to other students taking the same exam. Nothing else is public — not your email, not your phone number, not your individual answers.
If you would rather not appear on leaderboards, email us and we will hide you from them.
6. How long we keep it

7. How we protect it
- All traffic uses HTTPS encryption.
- Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes and cannot be read by anyone, including us.
- Payment credentials never touch our servers.
- Access to the database is restricted to authorised staff.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you and the relevant authority without undue delay.
8. Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may:
- See the data we hold about you.
- Correct anything wrong — most of it directly in the app.
- Delete your account and data — see Delete account.
- Withdraw consent for notifications, from your phone's settings.
- Complain to the Data Protection Board of India if you believe we have mishandled your data.
To exercise any of these, email support@aksharaedutech.com. We respond within 30 days.
9. Children
Our users are typically school and college students. If you are under 18, please use Smart Career Hub with a parent's or guardian's knowledge and consent. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us data, email us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The "last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version. If a change materially affects your rights, we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
